2024 World Car Awards Winners Announced

The 2024 World Car Awards, powered by Brembo, celebrated six categories of automotive excellence at the New York International Auto Show, marking the 19th year of the awards' collaboration with the esteemed event. The prestigious accolades, decided by a jury of 100 international automotive journalists from 29 countries, recognized the following standout vehicles:

 

  1. World Car of the Year: Kia EV9
Kia-EV-9-Blue

Kia's fourth World Car Award and a testament to its commitment to innovative electric vehicles, following the triple-win of the Kia IONIQ 6 (2023) and IONIQ 5 (2022).

 

  1. World Luxury Car: BMW 5 Series/i5
BMW-i5

BMW's ninth World Car Award, solidifying its position as a leader in the luxury segment, and extending its winning streak.

 

  1. World Performance Car: Hyundai IONIQ 5 N
Hyundai-Ioniq-5-N

Hyundai's seventh World Car Award, highlighting its dedication to creating emotionally engaging and high-performance electric vehicles.

 

  1. World Urban Car: Volvo EX30
VOLVO-EX30

Volvo's second World Car Award, validating its ambitious electrification strategy and the EX30's suitability for the modern urban market.

 

  1. World Electric Vehicle: Kia EV9
Kia-EV-9

Kia's fourth World Car Award, doubling its success by also claiming the top spot in the electric vehicle category.

 

  1. World Car Design of the Year: Toyota Prius

Recognized for its captivating design, the Prius demonstrates Toyota's ability to create a vehicle that not only offers practical benefits but also appeals to consumers' emotions.

Each category had distinct eligibility criteria, such as production volume, pricing, market availability, and vehicle dimensions. Finalists were announced at the Geneva International Motor Show in February, followed by the grand reveal of the winners at the New York International Auto Show on March 27, 2024.
