FSD-Full-Self-Drive

It is mandatory in north America to install and activate FSD V12.3.1 and take customers test ride

In order to further promote its expensive FSD fully automatic assisted driving function, the latest news indicates that Tesla will make changes to the car delivery process starting in North America. Customers will add additional FSD experience and test drive sessions before driving the car home.

Judging from the internal letter Musk sent to all employees, he requires Tesla employees to install and activate FSD V12.3.1 before delivering the cars to North American buyers, and take customers to turn on the FSD function for a "short-distance test drive." This is a "Hard Requirement".

Although this move will slow down vehicle delivery, Musk also required employees to inspect the vehicle after completing the FSD demonstration.

Musk said in the email, "Few people really realize how good FSD actually does. I know this will slow down delivery, but it is still a hard requirement."

The latest version of Tesla's FSD Beta is v12.3.1. Musk called FSD 12.3 a "major release" equivalent to "FSD 13".

In fact, Tesla has introduced what Musk has been touting as "end-to-end neural networks" since FSD v12, which means that the car's control logic is now handled by neural networks rather than code written by programmers.

Ten minutes later, Musk sent a second letter to all employees, requiring Tesla service centers to provide users with FSD experience test drives after completion of repairs and services.

Later, he claimed on X that starting this week, all Tesla models equipped with FSD systems in the United States will be able to trial the FSD function for free for one month.

It has posted relevant instructions on the order page of Tesla's official website in the United States, that is, "when you purchase a new car, you can get a one-month trial of the fully autonomous driving function."

Although Musk said in the email that it was North America, the post on the X platform only mentioned domestic vehicles in the United States. The editor looked at Tesla Canada's official website and it also has the above related instructions.

However, what Tesla and Musk did not say clearly is that this free trial FSD feature is only available to new buyers of Model Y, Model S, and Model X. The new Model 3 is not eligible.

FSD-CAPABILITY

In fact, as early as May 2023, Musk revealed that once FSD can run very smoothly, Tesla will launch a one-month free trial for all Tesla vehicles in North America, and then expand to the rest of the world. area.

He also recently said that FSD updates containing three important improvements will be pushed to users approximately every two weeks in the future. As a result, by the end of April or early May, FSD will have made a significant leap forward.

According to Musk's estimates, biweekly updates mean Tesla will release 26 FSD versions each year, which may even exceed the total number of the past four years. Such frequent updates will bring 78 major improvements to FSD each year.
