It is worth noting. It follows news that Tesla is abandoning plans to produce cheaper cars in favor of a self-driving robotaxi project based on the same electric vehicles. Musk, however, denied media reports that the company had abandoned plans to produce more affordable electric cars.
As early as 2006, Musk laid out the company's development plan, which included producing luxury models first and then moving to the production of "low-cost family cars." In 2020, Musk pledged to develop a $25,000 electric car. Currently, Tesla's most affordable electric car is the Model 3, which has an initial cost of about $39,000.
In addition, after Musk announced that he would launch a related "fully autonomous vehicle" - a robotaxi (Robotaxi) on August 8, Tesla's US stock price rose by more than 3% after the market closed.
