What's the Common Types of Automotive Light Bulbs?

Car bulbs are a key part of the vehicle lighting system and are essential for driving safety at night or in bad weather conditions. According to their use, car bulbs can be divided into many types, including headlights, fog lights, turn signals, brake lights, reversing lights, and interior lights.

Here are some common types of car bulbs and their characteristics:

Halogen bulbs: This is the most traditional type of car bulb, using tungsten filaments to emit light inside a glass bulb filled with halogen gas. Halogen bulbs are low cost, but not very efficient and relatively low in brightness.

Xenon lamps (HID): Xenon lamps use high-voltage discharge to produce light. Compared with halogen lamps, xenon lamps are brighter, consume less energy, and have a longer life. However, xenon lamps require a higher voltage when starting, and it takes a certain amount of time to reach maximum brightness.

LED lamps: LED (light-emitting diode) bulbs have become very popular in recent years. They are energy-efficient, long-lasting, and small in size, and can be designed in various shapes to fit different car lamp holders. In addition, LED lamps respond quickly and can light up almost instantly when current passes through them.

Laser lights: This is a more advanced technology that can be found on some high-end models. Laser lights can theoretically provide higher brightness and longer illumination distance than LED or HID, but they are not widely used at present.

The type of bulb you choose depends on your personal needs and budget, as well as the regulatory requirements of your area. For example, some areas may have strict regulations on modified headlights, and you must ensure that the modified bulbs do not cause glare interference to other road users.
